Of course your pictures are better than mine, you have a better camera.....

I get told this all the time, from people at weddings, and people who attend my photography workshops. But does it make that much difference? Im not talking about quality, we all know that a £1k camera and lens combo is going to be able to produce much sharper, higher quality picture than a £60 compact from Tesco, but what im talking about is the actual picture itself. There is much more to photography than just pointing and pressing the button. What makes a good image is all about composition, thinking about what we want to include in the picture, the angle at which we shoot at, the lighting conditions etc etc.

Last week I was working in New York. I was over there to shoot a wedding which I will share with you in a few weeks time, but while I was there I decided rather than carry my camera around with me for the whole week I would put my trusty iPhone 4s to the test and document my trip using only that. (obviously I used my DSLR for the wedding, im not that silly). All I have used in these images is my iPhone and a £2.99 app called Snapseed.

Let me know what you think.
